Implant to Replace a Molar

The Story:

The patient first came to the office with a long-standing infection associated with his lower left molar. He had a root canal treatment previously but it had become increasingly painful. Because of significant infection, re-treatment with a root canal was not an option, and extraction of the the tooth was recommended. He wanted a replacement of the tooth as soon as possible and he chose a dental implant.

Treatment:

Dr. Kazemi extracted the tooth while the patient was under IV sedation. The extraction site was then grafted to rebuild the bone that had been lost due to infection. The area was allowed to heal for about 6 months. A dental implant was then placed and two months later was restored with a custom abutment and crown.

The patient is now enjoying his favorite foods and is quite comfortable eating anything he likes.
