Maryland Bridge Conversion to an Implant-Supported Crown

The Story:

This patient had a Maryland bridge which had come loose frequently. She also had difficulty flossing due to bonded extensions of the Maryland bridge.

Treatment:

The Maryland bridge was removed and bonded with temporary cement as a transitional. Following CBCT, optical scan, and full digital diagnostics and implant planning, a single dental implant was placed following digital guided approach. After a 3 month healing period, the implant was restored with a single crown.

Key factors to our success:

  • Digital diagnostics
  • Digital implant planning
  • Surgical guide for implant placement
  • Soft tissue management using a customized abutment and restoration
