Herbert had significant decay of his lower right molar that required extraction. A single implant was placed to provide him with a functional and aesthetic tooth.
The Story:
Herbert, a professional soccer player for DC United, was referred by the team dentist, Dr. Emilio Canal, for evaluation of his wisdom teeth as well as implant replacement of his lower right molar which was removed several years ago. He had some hesitation chewing on the right side because of this and wanted to improve his bite and chewing.
Treatment:
In one visit under IV sedation, his wisdom teeth were removed and a single implant was placed in the right lower molar. No grafting was needed. He was then seen two months later for a quick check up. The implant was healed and ready for the crown. He followed up with Dr. Canal for placement of the permanent crown.
