A 15-year follow-up on this patient with implant replacement of central incisor with remarkable stability and vitality. But why?
In 2010, we selected a wide implant (5mm) for immediate placement, according to the common previously held belief that implant diameter should mimic that of the root’s diameter. Of course, we all learned that wider implants tend to cause more complications as they can compromise the buccal plate. In fact, a standard diameter implant (4.0) is much better suited for dental implants for central incisors. But regardless, we achieved great aesthetics and more importantly stability and VITALITY after 15 years. The question again- Why?
3 simple reasons:
▶ Implant placed in the palatal aspect of the socket away from the buccal plate (guided approach)
▶ Thick soft tissue biotype (so critical in every implant case)
▶ Biologically- and anatomically-compatible abutment / restoration system with platform switching
Achieving Dental Implant Vitality™ is no accident and can be a reality in every case.
