Management of Dental Trauma With Predictable Outcomes
Dental trauma can range from minor enamel injuries to significant loss of teeth and hard and soft tissues. When faced with such emergencies, the clinician must consider surgical, restorative, endodontic and periodontal implications and make quick decisions on a treatment that can lead to the best long-term result. In this presentation, Dr. Kazemi will review various types of dental injuries and a simplified map to choosing the most appropriate treatment quickly and easily. In addition, Dr. Kazemi will discuss complicating factors and treatment concepts.
Course objectives:
- Understand various types of injuries and their surgical, restorative, endodontic and periodontal implications
- Learn about treatment options and how to choose the most appropriate one to achieve best results.
- Utilize a simplified map to make quick decisions.

Extraction Site Bone Grafting - SOLD OUT!
Adequate bone architecture is critical for correct implant positioning and longevity. Following tooth extraction, clinicians must pay close attention to the condition of the alveolus and consider site graft to augment missing bone or preserve it for delayed implant placement. Extraction site grafting is indicated in the following clinical circumstances:
- Traumatic tooth extraction with loss of bone
- Existing periodontal disease or abscess
- Plan for significant delayed placement of implants
- Maxillary anterior teeth
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge based necessary for extraction site grafting for augmentation and preservation of the alveolus. Step-by-step surgical techniques are presented along with review of all grafting materials, instrumentation, and approaches. Participants will learn soft tissue management in both aesthetic and non-aesthetic regions. In-additional, participants will learn how to prevent complications and failures associated with sinus augmentation and management principles if they occur.
Course Objectives:
- Diagnosis and treatment planning for extraction site bone grafting
- Understand various grafting materials
- Manage soft tissue for ideal flap design
- Learn application of growth factors to enhance bone healing
- Understand and manage complications associated with extraction site grafting
Course Agenda:
- Diagnosis and planning
- Bone grafting materials
- Application of PDGF in extraction site grafting
- Soft tissue management
- Post-op care

Getting Here
Airports:
The Washington DC (WDC) area has three airports for major commercial airlines: Dulles, Reagan National, and BWI. Metro has a useful page for getting to and from DC area airports.
- Reagan National (DCA): Most convenient airport to DC; Served by Metro Blue and Yellow lines; Super Shuttle or Uber
- Dulles Airport: Served by Super Shuttle or Washington Flyer Bus (downtown or to West Falls Church Metro Station- orange line), or Uber
- Baltimore / Washington International (BWI): Served by Marc Trains to / from Union Station.
If you intend to take public transport from the airport, DCA will be the most convenient, as it has its own Metro stop. From BWI, you would need to either take the train to Union Station in D.C. to connect to the Metro Red Line (there is a bus to the Green Line, but this trip will take a very long time). From IAD, you would take either the Washington Flyer Bus or Metrobus 5A to the Metrorail Orange Line before transferring to the Red Line.
