The Story:
Patient had chronic pain and infection around an upper front dental implant. The diagnostic showed evidence of peri-implantitis and bone loss and poorly positioned implant with inadequate bone and soft tissue support. The only viable option was to remove implant.
Treatment
The restoration and abutment was first removed. Then the implant was removed using the atruamtic removal using reverse torque explantation technique. With this approach, the implant is removed in a non-invasive technique. The site was cleaned and platelet rich fibrin membrane was placed to promote healing. A transitional fixed Maryland bridge was placed while the site is healing. The next step would be assessment of the site for bone grafting and replacement with a new dental implant using digital workflow.
