Grafting of upper incisor

The story:

30-year-old patient presented with a fractured tooth #8 (upper left central incisor). She had a fairly high smile line and wanted to replace the tooth with an implant, but to also create a natural gum line and tooth appearance. Because of the thin nature of the bone around the tooth, bone grafting was recommended first, followed by the implant at later time.

Treatment:

The tooth was extracted and immediately grafted with some bone graft material at the same time. She was then given a temporary prosthesis. The site healed completely in 6 months. A single implant was then placed and allowed to heal for another 2 months. A temporary crown was placed on the implant and the gum tissue was allowed to mature for about three months before fabrication of her final crown.
