Chin Procedures

The chin may be augmented or reduced to improve facial profile, symmetry, and aesthetics. It is often performed at the same time as corrective jaw surgery but it may be done as an isolated cosmetic procedure. There are two techniques for augmentation:

Chin Augmentation with Bone Advancement- Genioplasty

This technique involves sectioning the chin bone and sliding it forward to augment. This is done through the mouth and no outside incision is necessary.

Chin Augmentation with Implants

This involves the use of preformed and anatomical implants that are available in various shapes and sizes. The implant is placed on top of the chin and fixated, creating a very natural feel and appearance. A small skin incision under the chin is required for this technique.

How the Procedure Is Performed?

Chin procedures are performed as out-patient at our state-of-the-art surgical center in Bethesda, MD. Surgeries are done under IV sedation for optimal comfort and patients are ready to go home after 30-60 minutes of recovery.
