The Washington, DC (WDC) area has three airports for major commercial airlines: Dulles, Reagan National, and BWI. Metro has a useful page: Using Metro to get to and from the DC area airports
- Most convenient airport to DC
- Served by Metro Blue and Yellow lines
- Super Shuttle or Uber
- Other ground transportation
Dulles (IAD) 703-572-2700
- Served by Super Shuttle or Washington Flyer bus (downtown or to the West Falls Church Metro station – Orange line) or Uber
- The first phase of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project will begin operations in 2013.
- Other ground transportation
Baltimore Washington International (BWI) 1-800-435-9294
- Served by MARC trains to/from Union Station
- MetroBus express route B30 (this links to a PDF version of the timetable) travels between the Greenbelt Metrorail station and BWI
- Super Shuttle
- Other ground transportation
If you intend to take public transport from the airport, DCA will be the most convenient, as it has its own Metro stop. From BWI, you would need to either take the train to Union Station in D.C. to connect to the Metro Red Line (there is a bus to the Green Line, but this trip will take a very long time). From IAD, you would take either the Washington Flyer Bus or Metrobus 5A to the Metrorail Orange Line before transferring to the Red Line.
