What to expect on the day of surgery On Your Arrival: Upon arrival to our office, Dr. Kazemi will perform a complete evaluation and discuss the nature of your surgery. Necessary consent forms are reviewed and fees are discussed along with our various payment options. If scheduled for same day surgery, our surgical assistant will then show you to the treatment room and prepare for the procedure, while your escort enjoys refreshments in our guest room, which is also equipped with a computer and cable internet access. You will be given nitrous oxide "laughing gas" while Dr. Kazemi starts an I.V. Anesthesia: Modern anesthesia technology now makes it possible to perform even complex surgery in the office with no discomfort. During surgery, one or more of the following is used to control pain and anxiety: local anesthesia numbs the surgical area; nitrous oxide "laughing gas" helps to relax you; and the intravenous medications to provide proper sedation for maximal comfort. After the procedure you will be awake, and escorted to the recovery room. Immediately Following Surgery: During this 20-30 minute recovery time, we will monitor you closely and make sure you are well recovered prior to discharge. Verbal and written post-operative instructions are reviewed and a follow-up appointment is made. Antibiotics and pain medications are prescribed and should be taken as directed. For your convenience, we have the necessary medications available at the office for purchase. For female patients: Some antibiotics may interfere with the effectiveness of your birth control pills. Please check with your pharmacist. For more information or questions, please contact us. |
